Albemarle County Planning Commission votes unanimously to recommend approval for Woodridge Solar.

Woodridge Solar faced the Albemarle County Planning Commission Tuesday, December 13th. This 138 MW solar array is located off Secretary’s Road in southern Albemarle County. Scott Remer, Director of Development at Hexagon Energy presented the benefits this project will bring to our home county of Albemarle. Woodridge Solar will push the county to meet 20% of its 2050 net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals upon approval. This 1,500-acre site will produce enough energy to power over 25,000 homes and actively enable native wildlife, plant life, and pollinators to thrive. Hexagon Energy is determined to foster a strong habitat for local flora and fauna with 100+ acres of wetland buffers, curated pollinator-friendly meadows, and maintained wildlife corridors. Following Hexagon’s presentation and hearing support from multiple Albemarle residents, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval for Woodridge Solar.
